An accident occurred on December 15, 2017 on site EcoTechnoPark. In the process of conducting performance trials of SkyWay rolling stock, a backhoe loader (tractor) has passed out on the unibus route (a prototype of a 14-passenger vehicle for urban passenger traffic). A collision has happened. As a result of the accident three persons suffered. The driver of backhoe loader was taken to hospital in critical condition. According to the latest information, the driver’s condition has stabilized, he is conscious.
Currently, the circumstances of the accident are investigated by the Office of the State Committee of forensic examinations (OSCFE) of the Republic of Belarus for Minsk region together with employees of SkyWay Technologies Co.
The incident occurred in daytime at 3:31 p.m. Minsk time. Law enforcement officials were immediately notified about the incident, an ambulance was called to the place. Information was delivered to the management of SkyWay Technologies Co.: General Director, Chief engineer, Deputy General Director for legal services, safety engineer, who immediately headed to the site and provided the necessary assistance to OSCFE representatives for Minsk region, who arrived to SkyWay EcoTechnoPark around 6 p.m.
SkyWay Company has developed and implemented an instruction manual on observance of safety requirements while carrying out running tests with rolling stock products. All employees of SkyWay Technologies Co. pass safety training when being employed and fulfilling the management’s tasks in accordance with their specifics. The subject of testing the unibus were the suspension arrangement and smoothness in the ride of the vehicle. According to preliminary data, the causes of the accident were of an external type and were not associated with the properties of the tested vehicle systems. Despite the large impact force, unibus remained on the track structure, which confirmed the efficiency in operation of its anti-derailment system. The unibus remained on the move and was able to continue riding.
According to General Director, SkyWay Technologies Co. Nadezhda Kosareva, the organization’s management stays in contact with the family of the affected driver. “We are all worried about the health of our employee and will do everything in our power to help. As for the accident, it is too early to say anything particular until we figured out all the circumstances,” commented the situation Nadezhda Kosareva.
The management of SkyWay Technologies Co. will report on the details along the progress of the investigation by OSCFE.
