Two months ago, we first spoke about the novelty of the SkyWay rolling stock: the Unicar in tropical version. This model is being developed within the framework of the project for the construction of the string transport in the Innovative Science Research Technology Park of Sharjah (UAE). At that time, we visited our own production CJSC «String technologies» and spoke about the purpose and design of the new model with the Head of the Rolling Stock Administration Andrey Zaitsev.

Recently, the Unicar U4-431-01 has arrived for testing at the SkyWay EcoTechnoPark. We went to Maryina Gorka and asked the Lead Engineer of the Design Bureau «Onboard Control Systems» Dmitriy Ulasen about the on-going process of commissioning works and about the difference of the Unicar, well-known to the EcoFest guests, from tropical Unicar U4-431-01, the novelty of the model range:

«The transport mean – Unicar in tropical version. It was made specifically for the use in the Middle East. Unlike the vehicle, which you already saw at the EcoTechnoPark earlier, this Unicar is equipped with a dual set of the main drives for extended range, improved cooling system and dual micro-climate system for passengers. There are other innovations, but they are all needed in order to adapt the vehicle to the hot climate and create comfortable conditions for passengers.

Now, during the first phase of the pre-commissioning tests, this Unicar is getting the first basics of movement on the track structure. All internal controls that are incorporated in it, must be configured, the systems must be correlated with each other, so that everything works synchronously.

At the EcoTechnoPark, the Unicar has still to go through a full range of testing on a rigid track structure on the chassis, the suspension, the braking operation. Then, it will be disassembled, revised, reassembled, and sent to similar tests on the sagging track structure.

The tests are being conducted to identify deficiencies in the Unicar prior to its certification. We identify and correct all faults and errors right here, at the EcoTechnoPark. Our colleagues from the pilot production help us to do that».
